World Latin Salsa Congress 2008 Press Conference

February 28, 2008

The 2nd Malaysia World Latin Salsa Congress 2008 kicked off with a bang with a Fun and Dance filled Press Conference held at Salsa Havana, KL. The Cuban Embassador was there to grace the event with short sweet speech to officiate the whole event. This is a change compared to some of the local VIPs speech which could last for hours (That’s how it felt like).

Of course, we also had Martin Reyes of Salsa Havana KL to give his take on the Salsa Congress in April. Huge crowd will be expect on the 18th – 21st April so if you’ve not registered yet do hurry up. Drop me a message to find out more about the prices and the registration forms.

Martin Reyes.

Apart from the speeches, it’s never complete without Salsa Performances for a Salsa related event, right? That’s where we had the Ritmo Latino’s dance team performing…

After the performance, there’s of course the usual mingling around and party. Want to check out the action? click here.

Kung Fu Dunk UTH Fest

February 4, 2008

Over the weekend, we had the Kung Fu Dunk UTH Fest at 1Utama from morning til 10ish. Must say that there sure is some hard core fans who practically hung around just to have a glimpse of Jay Chou.

As for me, it was definitely a long day having been there before the crowds arrived and stuck around until Jay Chou and his entourages of fans disperse from the area.

The crowd was entertained with loads of activities at 1Utama from 3-on-3 basketball competitions, short games at sponsors stalls as well as entertainments from guest artistes such as Liang, Karen Kong, Serene and Point Blanc.

There was also fashion shows as well as a hair styling demonstration happening as well, the event got more challenging as it started to rain and my camera ain’t a Weatherproof camera so, there were some occasions where I couldn’t catch some of the action happening around the place.

Apart from those performances, there was also the Hap Kune Do demonstration as it is the theme of the movie and guest appearance by Kenny Sia to keep the crowd entertained while waiting for the main stars to arrive.

At about 8ish, the crowd started to go wild as they saw some vehicles pulling towards the rear of the stage with Jay Chou and Baron Chen stepping out of the vehicle.

There was some meet and greet sessions with some contest winners at the back stage before they emerge onto the stage with the crowd going wild. The standard promo and movie related activities was conducted by the artistes which includes some basketball tricks as well as a quick plug for their movie and what to expect.

At 9pm, Jay and Baron say good bye to the crowd and made their way to GSC’s VIP lounge for the premier of the movie, a few more quick photo op. for the sponsors and they were then whisked away to their next event. The night ends at 9.30 when Jay and Baron no longer appears around 1Utama and the crowd disperse even before you could finish the word KUNG FU DUNK.

One thing I’d just comment on was the security of both Jay and Baron, maybe they were ordered to be the way they are but boy! they were really strict! We were not allowed to take any photos until their manager say ok and the number of shots allowed was restricted. No one dared to mess with these security officers though as they were spotted having guns at their side and their hands constantly reaching for the guns at any slight movement that they deem is dangerous.

I could have been shot just like that if I accidentally sneeze as I was just standing in front of Jay Chou. Sadly, no photos of me with him though so can’t show off. Onlything I could show off? I took a photo with Karen Kong!
