QuikSilver Revolution 2.0 – Show Stoppers

January 29, 2008

Here’s the last of my ‘official’ series. The Show Stoppers.

Why I named it that way? Simple, when the bands goes on stage, the other show stops, the skater stop skating, the surfers stop surfing. All the attention was towards the stage.

This time around, there’s no such boy bands as Click Five (Thank God). Instead, QuikSilver Revolution 2.0 was entertained by Pop Shuvit (sorry guys, didn’t take any photos as that’s when I went for my dinner), One Buck Short, Joe Flizzow, Stylustiks DJs (Also no photos of them as I was busy at the Halfpipe) and ending the night was Futon.

It took awhile for the crowd to warm up to each performers but by each band’s 2nd song, you’d see people dancing, headbanging and singing along to the performances.

The Futon’s set was rocking cause even the MPSJ officers was there and taking their opportunity to snap loads of photos. For what purposes? Only they will know.

Futon performed only 6 songs before they say good bye as they had to cut the show short. They had like about 10 – 13 songs on their playlist. The crowd was disappointed as the band said good night but hey, it was already 11pm and all good things must eventually come to an end. For the larger photos, you can find them here.

QuikSilver Revolution 2.0 – Skaterbois

January 28, 2008

The 2nd of the 3 part series. This time around, photos from the Halfpipe as international line-up of skateboarding ‘vert’ specialists shows the crowd their bag of tricks.

The skaters step up their game as the crowd gather through the evening and whip out some awesome moves.

Two-time German Half-Pipe Champion and World no. 13 Sascha Mueller take the lead with some awesome moves as well as hyping the crowd out with his on the move commentary. So far, the only guy I’ve seen on the vert ramp to rant away on the mic while he’s pulling off tricks.

Apart from him, there’s also Renton Millar from Australia, Jocke’ Olsen from Sweden, Jurgen Howarth from Germany and former world no. 3, Trevor Ward from Australia as well as Peter King from England.

The following shots was taken as it is, I did not remove the background from the photos (I’ve got quite a few people asking me why I removed the background for these photos).

That’s all from the Halfpipe series, for the gallery, you can click here. Tomorrow, I’ll be posting up shots from the Entertainers part of the show. So stay tuned!

QuikSilver Revolution 2.0 – Surfer’s Paradise

January 28, 2008

Here’s the first of my 3 sets of photos. In the next few days, I’ll be putting up photos from the events in 3 categories. The Surfers, The Halfpipes and the Entertainments.

Starting off the series is the Surfer series comprising of excellent surfing stunts performed by Ry Craike, Troy Brooks, Josh Keer, Dylan Graves and Wayan ‘Betet’ Merta.

Nothing beats watching these surfers performing LIVE as the Wave pool was alive with enthusiastic crowds wanting more and more stunts from the surfers.

The surfers not wanting to disappoint step up on their game to show the crowd what they have, even to the extend of breaking a board while executing a stunt!

1 lucky guy and girl from the crowd took home the broken boards and souviniors that night. To view the larger version of the photos, you can click here.

Facebook members can view the 160+ photos I selected in my photo gallery from the whole event from start to finish.

That’s all the photos from this set for now, next up, photos from the halfpipe with some death defying vert. tricks.

QuikSilver Revolution 2.0

January 27, 2008

QuikSilver Revolution 2.0 happened on Saturday and I was there. Loads of Skateboarding action, loads of Surfing action as well as local bands rocking the house down.

I’m sure one of the main thing you’d want to see are photos. Well, there are photos but do be patient as I’ve to compile them nice into the various categories before uploading them. So do be patient and come back here often to check on the photos.

For now, I need to rest.
